Veteran | Ovo je napisao Larry Jolly (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=893345&page=279) Bob, I wish you could of seen Arijans 3rd flight it was one of the most inspiring flights I have ever witnessed. Mind you he had just pulled off a1459.01 with a 98 in his reflight on the first flight. Of course I gave him crap about not nailing the 100, and he just cracked up. Maybe just a hair late but I wouldn't want to call it. Any way in the last flight it was blowing a good clip,I was calling for Murat and Arijan was 3 lanes to our left. 2 minutes to go there was this huge backfill from a massive thermal breaking off behind us. I looked at the clock and thought NO way that one is gone and We are launching in schmeg... So The Horn goes I throw We are off together and Arijan zips off 180 degrees downwind. I place Murat off the field to the right of us to minimise the sink from the thermal. I see Arijan way off downwind with the gliders tail down. It is a standard 3.55 with standard sized Xtail by the way. I tell Murat that this is painful to watch, Arijans model is going to end up in Italy. So now Arijan and his Father are running downwind, I am thinking they are coming back and are trying to retrieve the model for the re launch...nope 3 minutes in and he is still going downwind...he is running after it to keep it in sight. At around 4 minutes the Explorer is a speck and I see Arijan has stopped running he is standing at least 300 meters from the launch lane. No time to watch now Murat and I are dealing with some drama of or own, and models are raining from the sky including Philip. We manage a save at under 20 meters and now we are disappearing down wind. I see Arijan is slowly walking back and we are around 11 minutes in. I can't see the model but Arijan is looking at an angle higher in the sky he is definitely coming back. At 2.5 minutes I leave Murat with Mustafa to count him down, as I am leaving I look up and Arijan is over the spots at about 900 meters overhead.... An unbelievable effort in very challenging conditions. In the end only Arijan manged to fly 4 full flyoff rounds, as there was a reflight in after the first flyoff. Dieter Rybold lost something like 2 minutes on a flight, and Benedikt Feigl a bit more. Murat was 4th, Philip 7 or 8th. Sotir did a great job running the event, and while we flew in light rain he had to stop and wait for some clearing which meant there would not be 8 prelims hence no throw out. Great fun in Bulgaria with plenty of good flying. LJ I added the picture to help you visualise how far away Arijan went. If you look in the center of the field there is a row of trees running from left to right. When he went past the trees in the center he was very low maybe 100m and the glider had the tail very low. He went right past them jogged from going across the field to nearly straight away in the direction this photo is taken. If you follow the other tree line running at 90 degreees to the one closest to the field you will see where there is a point where it looks like they converge on this photo. Impossible to tell but in that area is a large structure maybe a church?? That is where Arijan hooked up and very low with the wind howling..... not to mention he runs a very stealthy metalic aluminium gray color scheme the same color as the sky out there in this photo.
